Colours of the Collégiale – David Hirst plays the organs of Notre-Dame de Mantes-la-Jolie

The remarkable tonal palette of the two organs of Notre-Dame de Mantes-la-Jolie is captured in this new recording of popular organ works.  The symphonic richness of the 1897 Merklin organ is contrasted with the clarity and presence of the 2013 Cogez.  The sound of both instruments playing simultaneously in the resonant acoustics is reproduced here for the first time on CD.  The sumptuous full-colour booklet in English and French includes notes on the music, information on the organs and photos of the stunning building.
